Raducanu reached the third round in three Grand Slam tournaments Grand Slams during the season.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of the last two tournaments in 2025 due to a health issue that has affected her for the last week and a half.

The 22-year-old was due to play in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to recover prior to beginning next year's training.

These plans will include her coach Francisco Roig, as the pair have decided to continue collaborating again next season.

She underwent blood pressure monitoring while playing the initial match against Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and retired when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

Another medical visit was necessary medical attention at the Ningbo Open this week, where she lost in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the first round.

She was also playing noticeably restricted in the final set versus Zhu because of a lower back issue that has affected her during parts of the season.

Such performances meant an encouraging season, in which the player advanced into the world's top 30 after a long gap for the first time since 2022, concluded with three straight losses.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points then was defeated by American player Jessica Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.

Raducanu won 28 victories this year and advanced to the semis in the Washington tournament, but her standout performance was at the Miami event in March.

The British number one advanced to the quarters of the WTA 1000 event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed en route prior to a loss in a three-set match to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She worked with Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in ahead of the US Open.

The initial agreement with the former trainer of Nadal was for the remainder of the year but the collaboration persists, with a training block pencilled in for the end of the year.

Raducanu told that the trial session with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She came very close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in Cincinnati in August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she reached the third round before being beaten by Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
