Canada's Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Meeting With Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer previously helped the Houston Astros claiming the championship in 2017.

The Toronto Blue Jays advanced to their initial World Series after the 1993 season by beating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive game seven of the AL Championship Series.

Down 3-1, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run blast in the seventh frame, leading the sole Canadian team in the majors to a 4-3 series triumph in the series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, the team that is the defending champions, in the forthcoming championship.

"It's incredible for this squad, the city, Canada," Springer stated, an integral part of the Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "What an incredible feeling."

Springer has now connected for 23 total playoff homers, making him third all-time behind Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of another person on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that spot except for Springer with his post-season brilliance," remarked manager John Schneider.

Seattle, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, continue to be the sole team yet to make an appearance in a World Series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "without a doubt that it's painful" after his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but commended their work throughout the year.

"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we had to come out on the losing end of this game," he continued.

Toronto's team won the title on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Los Angeles in game one on Friday.
