Wythenshawe Veterans Over-35s are situated in south Manchester and compete in the Cheshire-based Vets Division Premier Division.

Their roster this season includes nine former Premier League players, with a combined over 1,800 elite games.

The elite team also contains 222 top division scores and 325 global appearances.

The squad feature one forward, who notched 37 goals in over 100 games for his former club after joining them for £9m from German league club Freiburg in January 2012.

Cisse made his debut for the team in their last home-field match against defending title holders Collegiate Old Boys and scored every one of the six scores in a 6-2 victory - including a half-hour opening period hat-trick.

Wythenshawe's squad for this season also features former professionals such as England and Anfield forward Emile Heskey, Hull City and Burnley FC midfielder George Boyd, Toffees forward Oumar Niasse, Wigan Athletic full-back Maynor Figueroa, City pair Stephen Ireland and Nedum Onuoha and top-flight championship victors Joleon Lescott and Danny Drinkwater.

Together, the ex- top-flight footballers have won fifteen significant honors and moved for combined transfer fees of about £123m.

Household Figures and International Stars

Ireland started turning out for the team during pre-season this season through close mate and present Wythenshawe player Blake Norton, and the former Irish midfielder then asked other former professionals, who all play in a weekly small-sided game, to participate.

Former Senegalese forward Oumar Niasse, who scored 12 goals in sixty-five top-flight games for Everton and even now attends their matches at Goodison Park, also made his debut versus the opposition - who are located in the city and use an Everton training kit as their uniform.

"My friend Stephen said 'join and have a game, it's good fun'," commented the striker.

"Then he informed me we were playing a team from the city and the shock I had when I saw them wearing Blue kits - I thought this is wrong for me!

"When you still enjoy football and you feel you can still do it, anywhere you can play, what are you going to choose?

"Those fans who come and see are happy and to give someone's moment if they watch us competing there and to ask us questions - it's really about the joy of us having a place we can enjoy football, with organisation of course."

Such is the strength in depth at the club, Niasse had his debut at full-back.

"That's a bit unusual but then, I enjoy sprinting and just go inside - I'm not staying back that much," he said.

"I tell my centre-back 'I'm not hanging back' and that I'm just going to keep attacking.

"That running is what I'm seeking. It's good fun."

'Surreal Scenario

In addition to the forward's six goals on his first game, Stephen Ireland has scored 8 in three appearances for Wythenshawe, while George Boyd scored 5 on his first match and Lescott, a centre-half by position, scored a triple in one match as a striker.

Wythenshawe are leading of the Top Tier with three victories from 3 and a GD of plus nineteen.

Paul Barrow, thirty-eight, who features on the wing for Collegiate OB, came up against ex- Latics defender Figueroa on the weekend - and had to tell his nine-year-old son who Emile Heskey was.

Figueroa has played at 2 global tournaments for his country, in as well as featuring in more than 200 top-flight games.

"The news was going round like wildfire they had all these former top-flight stars," said Barrow.

"I felt I was a little starstruck playing against him to be honest.

"Also Heskey came on and he's got over 60 English appearances.

"We competed well for a solid 20 mins but then we had a player sent off and it was tough.

"Our group literally haven't stopped chatting about it - I was calling my mother and sibling on the way home.

"The opponents were all really nice, shaking our hands after the match - it was like facing a bunch of normal fellas.

"Now we are eager for the return fixture."
