Jurgen Klopp says a return to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.

Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, remarked that a future comeback remains something that could happen. The 58-year-old, post a game-changing nine-season tenure featuring Champions League success and the Reds’ first league title for three decades, currently occupies positions overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won England's top flight last season, though countless followers who revere Klopp would embrace the idea of his potential comeback. Speaking candidly, he told Steven Bartlett: “I said I will never coach a different club on English soil. Therefore in case it's my former club...yeah. In theory, it could happen.”

“I’m 58, which suggests I could make the decision later on, it's uncertain. Do I have to make the decision today? Then I will not coach again. But thank God, I don’t have to do that. I can just see what lies ahead.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Pressed on what circumstances would need to occur to tempt his return to the touchline, Klopp admitted he was not instantly drawn for a comeback. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “I don’t miss coaching; I avoid standing in the rain through long matches; I don’t miss going to interviews multiple times weekly or constant media duties each week.

“The locker room isn't missed as a dressing room, however, dining out with the players talking freely, I appreciate that. Success was frequent so there was often a very good mood in the building. Remaining with me is the captain's chuckle in my ear for example.”

Praise for His Successor

Klopp was full of praise of the current boss, crediting him due to the changes which secured the championship last term. They've been defeated four consecutive matches in every contest after a summer spending spree, yet he dismissed the idea that it might signal a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker like Florian Wirtz, critics will regret if you use the wrong words. He’s an incredible talent. The French striker, superb talent. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. You don’t have to worry over the club, they will be fine.”

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

The manager expressed deep feeling regarding the passing of the Portuguese star, a player he signed while in charge, and its impact at the club. Jota died tragically in a vehicle collision alongside his brother in July.

“Who can fill the void of such an individual? It goes beyond his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the squad absent his presence. Putting it into words is tough regarding this. A devastating blow for all the boys also. Not a single person will ever use it as an excuse but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room which he filled completely. Coping with it emotionally is not easy. Overwhelming.”
