Arne Slot acknowledged that it was understandable for questions to be asked about his position following a further heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.
Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the club's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.
They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at their home ground.
“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got a lot of support from above,” the coach commented.
“It would be great to change things and get a victory of course but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it is normal that questions are asked.”
He added, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we turned it around.”
When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach explained:
“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”
He added, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so it remains to be seen.”
The manager highlighted familiar shortcomings from his squad in their European loss, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.
Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his view of the team's situation.
“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones stated.
“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”
He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”
“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side going through a phase of this nature with performances so bad.”
Jones finished, “But we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And as long as that badge is gone, we will always battle.”
“We’re going to try to help the side back to where it needs to be, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”
“But right now, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
